ist die Stärke des Garns für die geplante Weste.

"nur" 165m auf 135gr, was eine Lauflänge von 61m/50gr macht. Für die Weste brauche ich 40m auf 50gr (damit es beim stricken auch richtig schnell geht ;-) )
Grob nachgerechnet muss ich also das Garn 4fach zwirnen. 
Wie erwartet ist es natürlich mit zu viel Drall gesponnen, was es ein bisschen fest macht. Na, mal schauen, ob ich das noch in den Griff bekomme.

nach der Spinnunterbrechung geht es am Rädla mit dem schönen Gelb weiter... ja, viel ist es nicht mehr, ich war schon wieder fleißig.

und da der Schal fertig ist, konnte ich diese Woche eine neue Kette auf den Webstuhl aufziehen. Heute die letzten Strippen gezogen, habe ich gleich mal ein paar Schüsse machen müssen. Jaha, es ist der Rest der Kette vom ersten Versuch, anders aufgezogen und verschnürt kommt da ein Hahnentritt um die Ecke.

And as the shwal is finished I could warp a new chain. Today I pulled the last threads and must weave the first shots of the patron. Yes it is the same warp than the first trial. Warped in another sequence and fixed on the treadles a hound´s tooth check is coming around the corner.

Und ich habe ein (hoffentlich) passendes Geburtstags-/Schuleinführungsgeschenk für das Patenkind gefunden.

And I found a (hopefully) suitable birthday-/schoolsbeginners gift for the goodchild.

Ein richtiger Webstuhl "en Miniature". Die Kette, die dort aufgezogen war, war sehr grob, und mit 3 kleinen Schiffchen mit je 3m Garn ist da nicht viel anzufangen. Also habe ich alles runtergeschmissen und frisch bespannt. Nun ist es lang genug für einen Schal und das Garn ist ein ganzes Knäuel und sollte auch dafür reichen. Die Kette ist ein blaues Chenillegarn, mit dem ich bisher noch nichts gescheites anfangen konnte, das Schussgarn ein auch blaues Bouclégarn, dass für Babyschuhe nicht getaugt hat. Mal wieder voll der Zufall, dass beide Garne farblich richtig gut zusammenpassen!

A real loom "en miniature". The warp that was on was very strong and the 3m yarn on the 3 shuttles are not really enough to finish something. So I removed all and put on a new. Now it is long enough for a shawl and the yarn is a complete skein and should also enough. The warp is a blue Chenille I could not find the right project until now. The weft is a blue Boucléyarn that was not good for babyshoes. Once more fortune that both suits together!

Eine kleine Modifikation habe ich aber doch vorgenommen: An der Stelle war eine Schraube für einen Kreuzschlitzschrauber, das ging recht schwer tief genug einzuschrauben. Also habe ich sie durch Inbus-Senkkopfschrauben ersetzt, für die ich noch den passenden IKEA-Schlüssel im Schub hatte. Der Clou an der Geschichte ist nämlich: wenn man diese beiden Schrauben entfernt, kann man ihn ganz flach zusammenklappen. 

Und ich habe mir reichlich Bilder gemacht und Maße aufgeschrieben. Das ist ein zu schönes, einfaches Modell, dass man sich mit ein paar Leisten selber zusammenschrauben kann. 

A small modification I made: I replaced the both original Phillips screws by these ones. The Phillips were very tight to turn in and I picked the screws I had an IKEA-allen wrench. The clou is: if only these screws are removed, the loom can be folded flat.

And I made a lot of pictures of it and measured all. This is a too nice model to selfmade it easily with some rods.

Ergebnisse - Results

Der Schal ist fertig - Yippieh. Gesten abend habe ich das Muster fertig gewebt und das Ende noch vor dem Abschneiden mit dem Schussfaden verstochen.

The shawl is finished - yippieh. Yesterday evening I wove it ready and before cutting I took the weft  and stitched the edge.

Wieder einmal erst nach der Hälfte ist mit aufgegangen, dass ich die Fransen auch in 4er Bündeln verknoten will, womit der Stich dann eventuell wieder runterrutscht. Also wieder aufgeribbelt und mit einem halben Stich am Anfang noch einmal angefangen. Jetzt sitzen die Knoten genau zwischen 2 Stichen. Alles super.

Once more after the half I saw that I will knot the quassel in bundles of 4. And then maybe the stitches will slip out. So I openden the stitches and started again with a half size stitch. Now the knots are between the stitches. Very good.

Wow, ist das lang. Kein Wunder, dass das kein Ende genommen hat. Der Übergang von Originalgarn zu Nachfärben ist nicht zu übersehen, aber das wusste ich vorher schon.

Wow, that´s long. No wonder that I needed so much time. The change from original yarn to the self dyed connot be overseen. But this I known before.

Ich hätte gedacht, dass es sich zum Ende zu mehr zusammenzieht in der Breite, zumindest hat es bei dem aufgerollten Schal den Anschein gemacht. Aber es ist (im Moment) nur minimal.

I was thinking it will be more smaller at the end because it has seen so on the roll. But it is (at the moment) minimal.

Wie lang ist er nun? Ich habe gar kein Maß, um ihn in voller Länge zu messen, also habe ich ihn zusammengelegt... der Meter ist immer noch zu kurz. Es sind (auch im Moment) 1,04m für die Hälfte, also 2,08m in der vollen Länge ohne Fransen.

How long it os? I don´t have a ruler in this length to measure it. So I folded it in the half... My one-meter-ruler is still too short. It is (also at the moment) 1,04m in the half. SO 2,08m fully length without tassel.

Gestern abend ist auch die letzte Probespule des Ouessant fertig geworden, so dass ich heute schon ganz zeitig zwirnen konnte.

Yesterday in the evening also the last test-bobbin with Ouessant was finished. So today in the early morning I could twist.

Es ist noch ganz schön viel Futter drin und ja, sie hat immer noch einen recht hohen Fettgehalt. Ich werde dem Entspannungsbad noch ein mal Waschmittel zugeben, aber ich denke, viel wird das nicht bringen. Aber es fasst sich trotz des Restfettes sehr weich an! Wie mag das erst sein, wenn alles Fett rausgegangen wäre?

It is still a lot of vm in and yes it has a lot of grease also. I will put in a little scoure into the relaxing bath. But I think it will not really help. Nevertheless of the rest grease it feel fluffy and soft! How would it feel, when the grease is removerd complete?

Nicht unbedingt mit diesem kurzen Reißverschluss, aber mir haben die Taschen so gut gefallen. Einmal mehr ein Modell aus der Vogue knitting Holiday 2014 (wo auch die Bilder her sind) und ich musste ganz schön suchen, um sie wieder zu finden! Nirgendwo auf der Festplatte, wie auch, versteckt sie sich doch in der App! Aber auch die Suche im Internet nach einer roten Weste mit Zopfrand und Taschen hat mich nur gefühlt 1000 Seiten aufschlagen lassen. Irgendwann bin ich auf die Idee gekommen, dass es vielleicht in einem Newsletter stand. Dort nicht, aber dann ist  mir halt die App wieder eingefallen.

Not necessarily with the short zipper but I liked the pockets. Once more a model from Vogue Knitting Holday 2014 (where I also catched the  pictures) and had searching more than 3 days to find it again! Nowhere on my storages I found the pattern. How should I find it as it was hidden in the app! But also searching through the www. for a red vest with cabled edges was not successful. Felt more than 1000 pages I opened. Sometimes I had the idea it could be advertised in a newsletter. Not there but then I remind teh app. 

Und ich hab doch die Anleitung gebraucht, damit ich weiß, wie dick ich das Garn spinnen muss. Nun, ich denke, es ist immer noch nicht dick genug, aber ich kann es ja doppelt nehmen. Jetzt wird es erstmal gebadet, dann getrocknet (schaut gut aus heute, strahlend blauer Himmel) und erst dann gemessen. Aber erst einmal wird eine Probe gestrickt. Wenn mir die gefällt, kann ich ja weiter spinnen und zwar genug für alles.

And I needed the pattern because I have to know how thick I must spin. I think it is not yet thick enough but I can use it double. Now it will be relaxed and dryed (looks good today, sun is shining, sky is blue) and then measured. But first I will make a gauge. If I like it I can go on with spinning... enough for all.

Holla, die Waldfee: Da ist ja noch ganz schön was drin. Das Waschwasser des Entspannungsbades. Ich habe es heiß aus dem Topf genommen, damit sich das Fett nicht wieder in das Garn verzieht... und es fasst sich immer noch fettig an. Damit könnte ich einen Regenponcho stricken und bräuchte ihn 10 Jahre nicht imprägnieren! *lach
Ich habe den Strang noch schnell in die Salatschleuder gesteckt und anschließend gut geklopft. Mal schauen, wie es trocken wird.

Oha: there is a lot of something in. The water of the relaxbath. I took it hot out of the pot so that the greas cannot go in again.... and it feel still greasy. I think With this wool I can knit a rainy poncho and must not waterproof it for the next 10 years *laugh
I put the yarn fast into the salad spinner and beat it hard. Let´s wait how it is dry.

eine neue Aufgabe - a new task

Ja, ich weiß, das letzte Projekt ist noch nicht abgeschlossen, aber beim stöbern in den Kleinanzeigen von ebay kann man so richtig tolle Sachen finden. 
Der Schal ist bei ca. 1,60m und das Spinnrad ist endlich frei für das Wuschelgelb, also geht es dort wieder voran. 

Yes, I know, the last project is not yet finished, but at searching through classified from ebay you can find nice things.
The shawl has a length of approxuimtely 1,60m and teh spinning wheel is now free for teh yellow. So I can work on both.

das von mir nachgefärbte Garn ist etwas blasser, als das Original von Chanti, aber nach 3 verschiedenen Versuchen werde ich nicht noch mehr Farbe und Wolle vergeigeln. Beim nächsten Mal werde ich die Kettfäden dichter setzen, die Rhomben sollten eigentlich Quadrate sein.

the yarn I deyed is a little lighte that the oroginal from Chanti but after 3 different trials I don´t want to invest more color and fibers. Next time I will wind teh warp closer. The rhombus should be a  square. 

Aber ich wollte schon länger mal mit Regenwasser draußen Wolle waschen. Die Ingo-Wolle ist schon fertig (ähem ... gewaschen), also brauche ich etwas anderes. Chanti hat mal von einem Ouessant-Vlies geschwärmt und ich habe in den Kleinanzeigen tatsächlich eines gefunden... in schwarz.

But as I read to wash with rainwater will be better I want to try this. The fibers from Ingo are still ready (ahem... washed) so I need something other. Chanti was showing one time a fleece from a Ouessant and what she made with it and I found an advertising for it... in black.

einmal komplett den Karton ausgestülpt und danach flach ausgebreitet. Auf dem Paket steht unter 5 kg, Carsten (der Verkäufer) sagt 3-4 kg. Es fasst sich jetzt schon richtig weich an, ich bin gespannt wie es wird, wenn es fertig ist.

Zuerst einmal habe ich meinen großen Bottich gesucht und schön Regenwasser eingefüllt. Ich hab schon vorher nochmal nachgeschlagen, einfach nur Regenwasser wird wohl nicht reichen, es muss auch warm gemacht werden. Gut, dass ich meinen schönen neuen Schnäppchen-Einkochtopf endlich mal richtig einsetzen kann. Runtergesetzt von fast 70,-€ auf unter 40,-€ hab ich den mitgenommen. Er ist eh nur für das "Wollgeschäft" gedacht, nur hatte ich im Hinterkopf mehr das färben, bei dem man die Temperatur immer über eine länger Zeit konstant halten muss. Aber er geht auch super gut zum Wasserkochen. Einmal aufgefüllt braucht er ungefähr 20 Minuten für die immerhin 20 Liter.

First I searched for my big tub and filled with rainwater. I read before that only rainwater is not enough, it also must be warm or hot. Good that my new big electrical pot will get his first task. It was reduced from approximately 70,-€ onto less than 40,-€ so I catch it. I only will use it for the "wool business" but the mainjob should be for deying when I must hold a defined temperature over a longer time. But I also can use it for cooking water. Once filled it need only approximately 20 minutes for 20 liter.

das erste Waschwasser und das dritte. Der Schmutz ist beim ersten Waschgang fast völlig draußen, aber die milchige Brühe nach dem dritten Waschgang zeigt noch reichlich Fett. Ich habe das komplette Paket in zwei Hälften geteilt und schmeiße in das gebrauchte Waschwasser von der ersten Hälfte, die zweite Hälfte auch nochmal rein, vorher nochmal schön heißes Wasser nachfüllen. In dem großen Bottich kühlt das nicht so schnell aus, wie in den kleinen Schüsseln im Winter. Jetzt muss ich nur schauen, was ich mit dem ganzen braunen Wasser mache, ohne meinen Garten gleich zu fluten.

I divided the complete package into 2 parts. After removing the first from the wash water I put in the second after fill up once more with  hot water. In the big tub the temperature stay longer than in my small boxes I used in Winter. Now I must have a look where I fill the dirt water without flooting my garden.

Meinen Schulwebrahmen habe ich ja mal wieder in die Ecke gestellt, weil dieser komische Wippbalken eine so grobe Einteilung hat, dass alles, was man darauf produziert, nicht wirklich wie gewebt aussieht. Aber wenn ich so durch die verschiedenen teureren Webrahmen mit Webblatt schaue, sehen die auch nicht viel aufwändiger aus. Gut, sie sind ein bisschen höher und haben eben ein Webblatt, aber ansonsten schauen die auch nicht anders aus, als der Schulwebrahmen! Also habe ich mal ein Stück Holz in die Hand genommen und ein bissel gebastelt.

But if I have a look onto the more expensive weaving looms they are also simple. And have only a reed. They are a littlle higher than flat on the table but not really more! So I took a piece of wood and tinkered a little.

Am meisten hat mich gewundert und gefreut, dass die 4 Füße tatsächlich alle denselben Abstand zum Boden haben, heißt: es kippelt nicht. Ich habe ja schon fast damit gerechnet, dass ich hier nacharbeiten muss, aber es hat gleich gepasst.

Nun fehlt nur noch ein Halter, an dem ich das Webblatt auflegen kann, dann ist er einsatzbereit. Webblätter habe ich für Ashford Webrahmen beim Wollschaf in den benötigten Breiten und Dichten gefunden, so dass ich hoffentlich endlich mal ein Webstück herstellen kann, dass auch wie gewebt ausschaut!

Now I only need a holder for the reed than I can make a new trial. Reed I found for Ashford looms at Wollschaf in the differrent sizes and dents. So hopefully I can weave a piece that looks like weaving!

 

Indigo und Waid wachsen und gedeihen. Lustig, dass der Indigo über Nacht seine Blätter zusammenfaltet, wie eine Mimose. Und der Waid steht und vor dem Haus, anstatt dahinter. Es scheint ihm zu bekommen, aber ich weiß immer noch nicht, ob ich die richtigen Pflanzen im Topf gelassen habe, oder das Unkraut :-)

Indigo and weed are growing. Amazing that Indigo fold his leaves over nihgt like a mimosa. And weed is now before the house (more in the sun) instead behind. It looks he like it, but I still do not know if I removed the wrong plant and let in the right :-)

Und ich habe endlich genug Blauholz auf Merino gehabt, um es mit der Ingo-Wolle zu mischen. Alles Blauholz Solarfärbungen, aber in den verschiedenen Durchgängen. Es hat beim kardieren mächtig lila Hände gemacht, das wird es beim spinnen auch noch einmal, aber ich hoffe, es kommt ein schöner Farbverlauf raus. Das Verhältnis ist 2:1 = 2 Teile Merino, 1 Teil Ingo-Wolle.

And at the end I had enough deyed with bluewood on Merino to mix it with Ingo-Wool. All is solar deyed but in different runs. At carding I had dark lilac fingers. I afraid this will be same at spinning, but I hope I will have a nice gradiant in the yarn. The ratio is 2:1 = t parts Merino, 1 part Ingo-wool.

die erste Fuhre auf dem Trockner. Ich habe entsetzt festgestellt, dass meine Waschmaschine gar keine separate Schleuderfunktion hat :-(. Also habe ich die Vliese in ein Waschnetz gepackt und im Garten kreisen lassen, wie Crocodile Dundee, als er mal eben einen "Anruf" gemacht hat. Nur nicht ganz so schnell.

the first part on the dryer. I horrified have seen that my washing mashine has no extra program to hurl :-( So I put it into a big net and hurl it in the garden like Crocodile Dundee as he made a "phonecall". But not so fast.

Das erste Batt kardiert, es ist durch die Maschine gelaufen, wie Butter. Alles, was schon trocken war, hat sich auch ganz leicht auseinander zupfen lassen. Vorgezogen und zu einem Ball gerollt. Es ist immer noch wuschelweich und ich freue mich auf das Abendprogramm. Aber es ist tatsächlich immer noch eine Restmenge Fett drin. Meine Hände fühlen sich an, wie frisch eingecremt. Gewicht: genau 50gr.

The first batt carded. It runs through the carder like butter. All that was dry was easy to prepare for it. Predrawn and winded to a ball. It is still fluffy and soft and I look forward to the evening. But it is really still a rest of grease inside. My hands feel like fresh creamed.
Weight: exactly 50gr.

Atompilz oder Wolkenplanet? - Mushroom cloud or clouds Planet?

das habe ich mich wirklich gefragt, als wir am Freitag Abend auf dem Heimweg waren.

noch ein gut Stück von zu Hause entfernt, aber doch schon merkwürdig als einzige Wolke an einem sonst strahlend blauen Himmel.

Diese Bilder hat Schatzi gemacht, und da ich schon einmal dabei war die Speicherkarte durchsuchen zu dürfen, habe ich doch tatsächlich noch ein Bild gefunden.

Ob ich nun traurig war, weil ich 200 Fäden noch einmal durch die Schäfte und den Kamm ziehen muss, oder ob einfach nur eine spannende Stelle im Hörbuch-Krimi kam, weiß ich nicht mehr. Aber ich habe mich fleißig wieder ans Werk gemacht.

If I was sad bacause of pulling 200 waprs once more or if the audiobook was so interesting that I made a brake I don´t know. But I was going back to work diligent.
